    Spooks and lobbyists will neuter this

    EU legislation is now dominated by lobbyists (see their capitulation to demands that oil from tar sands not be discriminated against) rather than governments, but in this case it's both, so this data protection package stands no chance of being enacted.

      Copy/Paste machine ready to go. Will they at least make the effort of changing a bit the text provided by the usual US Corp?

      Now that also the UK Parliament is up and running with Office365 laws will be approved even faster as lobbyists from around the world will be able to "help" MPs editing their amendments in real time without the risk of leaving copies of the original documents around.

      It's quite ironic to read and then respond to privacy related articles while seeing 4 banners dedicated to Microsoft Cloud around it.

    "One stop shop" = power grab.

    Europe-only rules won't be effective anyway...it's an international problem and can't be dealt with locally.

      Wouldn't it be interesting if an EU bill were passed that superseded national laws that forced companies to divulge if they had received a 'you didn't see me...right?' notice.

      Would never happen of course, but it would certainly get the feathers flying.

    ....ought to be sceptical. The bigger the bureaucracy - the lower the skills available to do this work properly. Per 'moiety' it needs to be done by a group of international specialists who know what they are doing and can get their proposals accepted worldwide.
