    Simon Hackett?

Things might be looking up for the NBN.

      Re: Simon Hackett?

I'm pleasantly surprised Turnbull had the courage to appoint Simon to the board. He won't hesitate to put his views forward and in past two decades, Simon's opinions and actions have been in the best interests of all Australian Internet users.

Agreed. And it gives Turnbull the capacity to back-pedal. If the likes of Hackett state "Implementing FTTP will save x billion over 50 years compared to maintaining FTTN + copper" then Turnbull can recommend the implementation of FTTP with a straight face. After all, we all know he wants to, but is currently forced to answer to two chumps and a retard.

Yeh going by my experience with internode it will have good quality but be 15% more expensive than it should be. That said I know Simon personally and he is a good bloke.

    They are there for show

They are "non executive" board members.

All the major decision makers are ex telstra.

So it will be a board that decides how best to kill the NBN and sell it's carcass to Telstra

Of course they are "non-executive" - there can only be one executive director - for the NBN that is Ziggy. There is nothing special about this, all boards work this way. The executive director is the person who executes the work. The non-executive directors are there to direct, they do not work for NBNco, and thus and are not executives.

Simon is a good solid appointment, and ...

probably "better to have him inside the tent pissing out, than outside the tent pissing in" ...
