    Can I just say, I rather enjoyed John Carter? Nicely made boys' own tosh: Star Wars, basically.

    Mind you, I had a heck of a job finding a London cinema showing it in 2D not 3D.

      I'll stick with the Barsoom books, thanks. But only as examples of early Fantasy/SciFi. They aren't all that good a read, really, when you think about it.

        Neither are the million-and-one Star Trek/Doctor Who/Halo/[insert franchise cash-in name here] books, but that doesn't stop folk buying them in droves and enjoying them too.

          Tony, I could say the same thing for cigarettes, designer clothes, !social media, "Fast" so-called "Food", sports fan gear, and iFads. Doesn't make 'em worth the billions that TheGreatUnwashed pay for them.

          If all your friends jumped of a bridge, would you follow?

          IMO, of course.

    i must admit

    im quite looking forward to it. i love a bit of escapism.

    i have plenty of dark, deep etc movies but sometimes you want a bit of fantasy/sci fun.
