    starting

Starting to sound (even more) suspect - do you think a clever Chinese computer intrusion team would keep using the same well publicised attack over and over again against high profile targets?

      Mm

Why not? It was previously undetected, there's no way to pin it on the Chinese nor anything to do even if it was somehow proven, and tbh people have known that this has been going on for years, it's only over the past year or so the public's got wind of reality though.

    Why use IE

Why use IE in the first place. There are no indications it could become reliable, ever.

You get whatever Christmas you deserve

First rule of AntiSpam filtering - you have to reject any email coming from the outside which pretends to be from your domain or address range. If you do not - sorry, you get whatever Christmas you deserve. Then any scum out there can pretend to be your CEO or the sysadmin sending out by email the latest patches.

Is there more to this ...

    ... it seems so fishy.

Maybe Western investors in China could encourage the government that it is difficult to meet commitments if that is how they treat their friends.

On the other hand, it is good to see what has happened and the means with which it was delivered.

It looks as someone has played an ineffective hand that merely set off radar detectors on quite a broad scale?

Have they never heard of UDP?

Just drop .CN off the edge of the 'net for a couple of days..

But, to be fair, you do have to wonder what idiot decided to allow in email that spoofs their own addresses.

    Dumb lawyers - crippled browsers.

These dummies should have adopted a decent browser to avoid the Chinese and use a decent web host who keeps updated with patches.
