does anyone actually, seriously, do any browsing on a phone? squinting at a tiny screen, with your fingers constantly in the way while scrolling, ...
If i'm using a mobile phone to browse at all, it will be on a laptop using it as a bluetooth modem with a proper browser.
Apple products. They just work.
Except they doesn't.
Doubting fools! The iPhone is democracy made manifest in the palm of your hand! It's all that stands between you and communism, publicly funded health care and nuke-totin' whales! Buy one now! Buy two!
I have an iPod touch 2G and love it. I always browse porn with is while at work on the wireless here to give the powers that be something interesting to read in the firewall logs. And I will say that the browser is the best out there hands down.
Now I personally do hate Apple for the way they market and act with their products but the browser is very very nice.
Now if only they wouldnt be so monopolistic about the rest of their business.
/AC because I dont need the bosses seeing this and figuring out where all the porn is coming from :)
"/AC because I dont need the bosses seeing this and figuring out where all the porn is coming from :)"
I think you might mean "where all the porn is going to" or "where all the porn requests are coming from"
blimey, do you use your iPod "touch" for more than just browsing, do you?
I'm browsing on mine right now
Like the AC at 2201, I use my CrackBerry to get round blocked sites at work, and for a fair bit of "travel-browsing", or for things that I want to know NOW (eg watching a film - who's that bloke on there I'm sure he was in that other film what's his name now.... etc).
Fingers in the way aren't a problem as I use a Curve with a QWERTY rather than a Storm or similar touch-screen, as not being able to see the screen due to opaque fingers would irritate me (and was the main reason for going for a Curve). Oh, and squinting is sorted by that handy zoom feature...
Yeah coz they're going to find out it's you downloading porn because of your comments on El Reg. Your IP address and iPhone user agent string in the logs won't give them a clue at all.
"does anyone actually, seriously, do any browsing on a phone? squinting at a tiny screen, with your fingers constantly in the way while scrolling, ..."
The screen isn't that "tiny" and I dont tend to be reading too much while scrolling so that isn't really an issue for me at least
"If i'm using a mobile phone to browse at all, it will be on a laptop using it as a bluetooth modem with a proper browser."
If I'm using a mobile phone to browse it is with "bolt" a super fast browser with NO history and gone at the click of a button for browsing "those" sites!
As has been mentioned, it is great for your "immediate" browsing needs like Who is that actor etc
Sorry, perhaps i'm addressing the wrong demographic here. I've honestly tried it myself but that's how I feel about anything that gives more scrolling, zooming, and expensive bandwidth usage than actual value. But as with all things, horses for (personal?) courses.
