back to article Minor CO2 issue cuts short ISS spacewalk

Mission specialists Chris Cassidy and Dave Wolf yesterday cut short the third STS-127 International Space Station spacewalk, due to "higher than normal carbon dioxide levels" in the former's spacesuit. The minor alert, prompted by a "potential problem ... with the carbon dioxide scrubbing device", meant the pair had to return …

    WTF?

    battery operating voltage range of 76 to 123 V dc

    Can anybody explain to me what NASA mean here? Do they simply mean that some battery subsystems are 76V and others 123V, or do they actually mean that the batteries are designed to provide power at this very wide voltage range? If the latter, surely this would be very inefficient at best?

    But it's natural

    CO2 is natural, it's tree food, it can't be a man made problem, 99% of it comes from the ocean, levels were higher in the past, it would cost too much to fix anyway.

    Just like global warming & evolution, it's a scientific fraud.

    So no problem to fix really. Continue with your space walk.

    Coat

    Does the phrase "as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit" ring any bells?

    Even money on the fact he sh4t himself, and they just needed an excuse to get him back in.

    @Battery internal resistance

    Most likely they mean the voltage drops as you draw more current due to the batteries internal resistance:

    And it is very normal for all batteries, here's a question/answer thread on RC batteries about voltage drop under load.

    Are you pulling a manfrommars?? What on earth are you trying to say/what does it have to do with the article?
