Why would you do a location-based search in a web browser when you can do it directly in google-maps? Users of most smartphones have had location-based googling available in that manner for aaaaaaages.
At the end of the day, once you've found something nearby in Google in your browser, you'll want the result to be shown on your googlemaps anyway. So what's the point?
If you use Bing on Windows Mobile, you can directly add any search results into your contact list, which is nice.
