In addition to audio, Obama will for the first time release a video recording of the Democratic address this Saturday, his office said today. Aww diddums. Still smarting because heer mccain couldn't measure up, to bad suck it up and get over it.

Now that that is taken care of. While I never had much use for subscribing to channels on you tube before I'll be sure and add this one. I'm looking forward to seeing how Obama makes use of the media keep people informed through his terms in office.

    Whining wimps

You know, it used to annoy me that I these days I can't read any flippin conversation *anywhere* on the internet, even in non-US, non-political sites (obviously that last point doesn't apply to El Reg) without hearing some sad, deluded Republican wimp whining about how Obama will take away his job, his guns, his money, his Bible, and his heterosexuality.

Seeing people so ludicrously detached from the slightest hint of reality (including 911 "Truthers" and Moon Landing "Hoax" proponents) used to make me by turns sad and angry.

Now, I just laugh as they go red-faced and apoplectic. The throbbing veins on their foreheads are so pronounced, you can even see them in a text message over the Intertoobs! Who needs YouTube? :-)

My favourite cartoonist puts it far better than I could: http://thepaincomics.com/weekly081112.htm

Oh, and before the next *Democratic* bed-wetter comes along, worrying that all these Haters will try to assassinate The Big O (sorry Oprah, you done lost that title): Give the Secret Service some credit! They get smarter every year, thanks to training, research, and improved technology. OTOH, uneducated rednecks and skinheads will stay uneducated forever. And whereas those "brave" Muslim extremists are very good at murdering innocent civilians by the score, they suck against trained, armed and determined military and paramilitary forces.

Now, to get back on topic: This is an excellent idea. Todays youth are just too easily distractible to actually *listen* to something. They need "the bright shiny", such as video, to keep them focused long enough to hear what is being said. Why, in my day, we had to trudge three miles through snow, uphill both ways, just to crowd around a crystal radio set to listen to the commercials!

(To the youngsters: A crystal radio is an unpowered (and thus un-amplified) AM radio. It has all the wonderful sound quality AM is so famous for, along with a sound volume so low you have to strain to hear it, even through headphones.)

Technologically apt? In my White House?

It's more common than you think.

If it's stream on the net or on the TV what's the difference ??? The web is just another medium .

    Obviously early days,

And you can't judge people by something as simple as 'I posted a video on the intertubes' .

But at least O seems to be a clued up/ prepared person, and not a bible-bashing religious fanatic.

At last america (they need to deserve the capital A they used to have in my books) looks to stand a chance of getting back on it's feet.

Hopefully the selfish greed (here in the UK and there) can be lessened, that would be nice.

    Go

    Transparent my arse

if it is transparent can we ask Dear Leader Obama the following:

-Why he said he takes no money from the oil industry when execs and their relatives have given him over $250,000.

-Why he pretends to have nothing to do with the credit crisis when it was the likes of him and groups like ACORN who took the banks to court in order to get mortgages for people who couldn't afford them

-Why he keeps flip flopping on Iraqi security and why he thinks it was better to keep Saddam in power instead of liberating the country

-Who convinced him that manmade global warming is a reality and the planet is in peril when there's no evidence to suggest such doom, he isn't a scientist, and he has no scientific advisors

-Why he said he would like to bankrupt the coal industry with expensive cap and trade schemes and put over 100,000 out of work because of it

-Why he said he intends a mandatory draft of a million or more unemployed youths for civil service and to inspect our homes and offices for "energy efficiency"

-What he meant when he said he can't find "salvation" without saving others

-What he meant when he said the US Constitution is flawed because it protects civilians from too much government control of their lives

    im the first AC

sorry, i didnt make it clear, i wasn't moaning about obama being president (i only wanted mccain to win because i had a tenner on him at 16-1, aside from that i couldnt give a fuck, it wont affect me either way)

i just dont like the way the world is going, i foresee a terrible future dominated by the internet, in which whoever controls the internet controls the general population.

when the next election comes round, i imagine even more emphasis will be placed on youtube as a medium to communicate with the voting population. google control youtube. therefore, i see it as being relatively easy for google to subtly influence the opinions of the voters, by placing more emphasis on the propaganda for their preferred candidate, whoever it is.

to be fair, the same thing might happen on tv in america now. i don't watch american tv, so i don't know. i was under the impression that some channels were open about their affiliation with whichever party, which to me is better than some supposedly neutral party not actually being neutral.

    Thumb Up

    Vimeo

I have to agree why youtube only. The TV spots of presdential addresses don't go out on only one channel. Well maybe some will fix this by January.

@ Stuart Van Onselen: "The Big O"

Surely there's only one "The Big O". I am of course talking about Roy Orbison.

If Obama's actions proof to be the political equivalent to "Only The Lonely", "Pretty Woman", "In Dreams", "Crying" and a bunch of other classics he m-i-g-h-t earn the title.

    Neato

    Neato !

However , beware though given the power of all the mini me mobiles , latops and desktops complete video mashing and reworking is now in the hands of any end user , so one can do everything from a simple hatchet job to a full reverse of both video and audio true mash up style(and yes Virginia somewhere on youtube exists "A reverse "rick roll" " too ).

In the US state of Georgia , some one took one of Saxby Chambliss's Senate TV political attack slime and smear ad and then added subtitles with a twist in the tail .

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvhuqGvuM1Y

You can see the scope for mischief making with any video uploaded to youtube can be infinite in the ways of the users imagination .

Back in the bad old days before youtube was around to allow all an infinite continuous review and access to political gaffes and mistakes , it was a sort of hit or miss affair of gone never to be seen again and now those errors can no longer be swept under the carpet anymore .

    Choices or parody rules ?

    Tight bastard

He could always have streamed his video addresses from his own site, it's not as if youtube's the only way to put a video on the internet!

  13. Stuart Van Onselen

    @Obama Smith

I don't know if you heard, but the election is over. You're stuck with Obama for at least four years.

So suck it up, man! Stop whining and do something positive to help your seriously fucked-up country.

No required opposition on the intertube

All of you who consider Mr. Obama as The Messiah, consider this:

The way the current laws are written here, they can put as many addresses out on the Internet and not be required to air equal time for the opposition's view.

This is not the warm, fuzzy "change" that appears on the surface, but a very carefully calculated way of controlling the debate. If these bastards push through the "Fairness Doctrine" (which, despite its name, is anything but) we will be that much closer to silencing dissent.

Despite what many of you may think, there are many of us who oppose the trend toward socialism who are not redneck, sister-marrying skinheads -- just like all you lefties aren't all full-blown Bolsheviks.

Goldwater was right over 40 years ago: Eventually the takers would outnumber the givers. It's happening now.

Yeah but this would get a wider audience . People that just happen to be on the site be decide he lets check it out.
