Don't forget Worthing!
As per the title, Worthing crematorium has also put up this wonderful offer the same time out Southampton.
Paris, because she likes a good on-line funeral.
Consumer technology is usually associated with living people. However, one intrepid UK crematorium now allows people to say goodbye to their beloved through a webcam and the internet. From today, Southampton Crematorium will offer a pay-per-view service that gives mourners online access to a broadcast of someone’s last moments …
"After the death of his wife, John Childs was forced to return to Australia because of work commitments"
Wow, I wonder what his wife would have made of that. It takes the work/life overbalance to a whole new level.
£75 for an hour's access to a webcam seems a bit steep - hell, you could access some decent porn webcams and more for that price... apparently.
But putting gimmickness aside, this is actually quite a good service for the house-bound. It would be perfect for my gran if a) she had a computer and b) her mates could be convinced to die in Southampton.
Paris 'cos she has a bit of experience in £75-per-hour video... apparently.
No really, this is a TRUE story! This was reported on ITV Meridian only a few days ago, and published in our local newspaper. See http://www.littlehamptongazette.co.uk/worthing-news/VOTE-Worthing-Crematorium39s-internet-funerals.3919001.jp it was published on 27th March.
"Next we need live webcam & MSN messenger links to weddings"
Already being done at many council venues, do a google search, this is what made me think that this is entirely possible. Not sure whether they are doing the funerals or not, some stories appeared on the internet yesterday about this.

I'm in Southampton, and it was in our local rag a couple of weeks ago.
Front page news - not much of excitement happens around here apart from football hooligans smashing bottles over each other's heads. As a logical conclusion the crematorium does quite well for itself, funnily enough.
Is it just me, or are people getting dumber and dumber? Damn, this is stupid! Webcam for a funeral? Geez!
And supposedly, by law, any employers MUST give a few days off (dunno how many) to any employee whose close relative dies. At least, here in Portugal.
I'm not catholic, or anything. don't like funerals. But damn, i respect the notion of a funeral. It's a get-together of people who will miss the deceased, and want to pay a final respect, say goodbye. This is freaking stupid.
Like was suggested above, someday, we'll have webcams to watch our beloved ones go up in flames....
